John Cowper Head of Architecture Wickes
John Cowper is the Head of Architecture for Wickes the UK hardware retailer. As a veteran IT campaigner, he is responsible for guiding the security, infrastructure and application roadmaps and strategies. Taking a cloud first approach to digital transformation, John has delivered both the AWS production platform and the WSO2 integration layer. He is currently overseeing the construction of the Wickes microservices capability. John is also responsible for the Wickes architecture element of the migration of the TP group data centres to the AWS cloud, migrating and transforming some 100 applications to the cloud. John also plays a part in the development of the technology selections supporting the Wickes business ambitions: doubling turnover in a 6 year timeframe. John has previously led the architecture functions of three major eCommerce programs: Tesco Direct, Kingfisher DIY.com and BAT's Worldwide B2B Ordering Program.
